Chris will always live in our hearts. There is so much to remember about her. She was a big influence in my life about animals. I always loved them but never started actively rescuing them until Chris. I always considered Chris a Saint. One thing I always tell people about Chris is that she would never say anything bad about a person and if you did, she would make an excuse for them. What a sweet wonderful person she was. I'm sure her animals in heaven are very happy to be with her again and I'm sure the feeling is mutual.
Love to all the family.

I would say no single person had a greater influence on my life than Mrs K. I met her when was eleven and could never understand why she drove through the neighborhood driving all us kids to school in that old white station wagon. But was always grateful for the ride. The first time I visited her house she was sitting on the kitchen floor with an ancient vacuum cleaner in a million pieces. I couldn't understand that until she explained that just because it's old and broken doesn't mean it can't be brought back to life and have purpose. That's what she was all about. Taking the broken and deserted and giving them new life. Though I loved animals before I met her she gave me a new respect for life and protecting those that couldn't protect themselves. She taught me that it was good to get up at four on garbage day and collect all the discarded newspapers before the trash man so we could load them into the station wagon and bring them to recycle. The money we got went to feeding and spaying the animals that always seemed to show up at her doorstep. She taught me that volunteering at the shelter gave more to me than even the animals we helped. She supported us in protesting animal abuse at rodeos and even by sticking flyers about seal clubbing in the fur coats at Macy's .....that it was a good thing to do. Even if Macy's didn't like it. She taught us to think....never told us what to do but would ask all the right questions until we came to the right conclusion on our own. She made us realize it's always a good idea to let an adult know where you were going to be. She was our grown-up and managed to get us out of tricky situations too numerous and embarrassing now to name. But we always could trust her to let her know where we were and when and with whom. No judgement on her part. Just protection and guidance. She took me on my first plane ride when I was twelve to visit Nana Lyons in Florida. I was scared but she got me through that with her humor and confidence and instilling the attitude of adventure for a new experience instead of fear. The life lessons she taught me stayed with me and I think I've passed them to my son and niece. She tried to teach us all common sense and Street smarts. I think that worked with patty Tina and Jo...not so much with me and Evelyn😊. The thing I admire most was her ability to let other people have her way.....she would never tell a lie but could phrase her words so people would agree with her and think it was their idea. Can't tell you how often I've used that lesson in business. Bottom line... Mrs K isn't gone from this world... she lives on in the lives of the numerous children and people she touched and in their children and lives they touched. I wouldn't be the person I am today except for her and will always be grateful for her love. Weeping while I type this but know she's in a better place today and holding Evelyn in her arms. Will always love you Mama K. Thank you for all you've done in your life to make it so much better for me and everyone else you touched.

My sincerest condolences on the loss of this wonderfully compassionate lady. I think of the Klusmyers fondly everytime I drive past the home they shared for many years.
I remember her love for her family and her animals. Friends of Animals should have borne her name. She was tireless in her efgorts. She helped the animals and the people who loved them. I remember her assisting me in getting one of our cats neutered through the FOA. She never said no and always helped. She knew my family well and if I remember correctly she was involved in Girl Scouts with my mom? She was sweet, kind, compassionate and left an impression with all she met. On behalf of my mom, dad and family, may God rest her soul and may her loved ones remember the good times and memories shared.

Mr. Klusmeyer, Patty and Tina:
I was so very sad to her that your mom passed. There are not enough words to define the wonderful person she was.
Living across the street from you until the day I got married was super great. We never knew what to expect from your mom with the love of her animals. She loved all living creatures. Remember the time you guys got the goat, I was always afraid to come to the gate because he would nibble at my legs. He was an interesting goat. ( not sure your dad like him so much)
Glenn and I would love to come over when your mom said the eggs were ready, we would bring home Dinky Ducks eggs, my mom would cook them up for breakfast, Man were they big eggs and usually double yoke.
She always opened her door to all the children on the block (even Bobby Wright even though he tortured the dogs riding his bike up and down the street). Your mom introduced me to horse back riding, remember that. My horse decided to take off and wound up in the middle of the pond. Then when I went to get off he tried to bite my knee. Well that was the first and last time I ever got on a horse. I could go on and on the impact that your mom had on my life. I think of her every May 7th as we share the same birthday.
I know Evelyn has greeted her with open arms and now she is free to fly with the angels. Take care of your dad , as he also is a wonderful ,wonderful person.
Love Connie

Oh my gosh... MAMA K!!!! You TRUELY were my second mom! When my mom passed away, you were always there for me. I can't even say how many times you "rescued" El and I ( Patty always played the "innocent one" lol!!)
I can picture you in your kitchen cooking dinner and drinking tea, or in the living room practically dancing around. Your energy was boundless. Your love for animals was like NOTHING I have ever seen before. And your love for your family and friends was endless. You will continue to be a true blessing in my life- forever. I love you Mama K.

One thing I loved about her was her smile- it was always there to welcome you into her home. Her love for people, animals and flowers were so evident in that smile. We will miss her and feel blessed to have known her.

I remember all the rides to Meadowlawn School. All her kindness & ability to make each one of us children at the time who crossed her path feel important. I remember her old catch Zortch (sp.check) who only liked her. My love of animals grew mighty knowing her & she respected all lives. Patti, Evelyn & Tina were wonderful friends. She was such a great MOM, all of us in the neighborhood wished ours was like her, back then they called her Chris. My heart will always be blessed having been touched by "Mrs. Klusmeyer". She was a gem & now she gets to rest & enjoy all her time. Giant hugs to Mr. Klusmeyer & my dear friends Patti, & Tina, & all the family.

Although I have only been in your Mom's company a few times, I could tell that she was a very kind, soft spoken lady. Her love for animals was obvious as she reached her hand out to pet one of your dogs with such kindness in her eyes. In one conversation with her, she expressed her concern for homeless and neglected cats. She was a very gentle person and I know your precious memories of her will be with you always.
