Obituary

Sherman L. Barto Sr., 73, of Muncy, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at UPMC, Williamsport.

He was born March 6, 1950 in Muncy, a son of the late Howard and Arbutis (Musselman) Barto.  On June 24, 1978 he married the former Janice Shade, who survives.  Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Sherman served in the United States Army and was a proud Vietnam War veteran.

He retired as a machinist from the former Alcan Cable, now Prysmian Group, Williamsport.

Sherman was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Sandra Wilson, of S. Williamsport, Bruce Munshower, of Hughesville, Sherman Barto Jr., of West Virginia, and Bridget Barto, of Muncy; one brother, Howard Barto, of Utah; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ali, Haley, Jordan and Robert; and one great-grandson, Eli.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Steinhart and Beverly Wodrig.

Burial will be held in Webster Cemetery, Huntersville.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
