Arla M. Gottschall Taggart Haynes

Arla M. Gottschall Taggart Haynes, 94, of Hughesville, died Thursday, May 14, 2020 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.

Born May 1, 1926 in Mifflinburg, she was the daughter of the late G. Walter “Salty” and M. Lucille (Edelman)  Gottschall. On December 19, 1959 she married Kenneth E. Haynes, who preceded her in death April 2, 2020. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

 Arla was a 1944 graduate of Muncy High School, where she played clarinet in the band. She was a clerical worker at Clyde Kiess, in Hughesville, GTE Sylvania, in Muncy, Relda Apparel,  in Hughesville and at the former Carey Mc Falls of Montoursville, now Spring Window Fashions.

 She was of Lutheran faith.

 Arla enjoyed playing BINGO and doing needlepoint. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Most of all Arla loved spending time with her family.

 Surviving are four daughters, Fay Polk, of Muncy, Doris King (Bill) of Hillsgrove, Shirley Glidewell (Stan) of Picture Rocks and Sandra Taggart (Buzz) of Williamsport; six grandchildren, Joyce Snyder, Linda Hendershot, Wes King, Walter King, Aaron King and Alan Glidewell; 12 great-grandchildren, Derek, Nickolas, Carli, Jessica, Izabella, Gracie, Josie, Nathan, Ethan, Riley, Colin and Lucas; one great-great-grandson, Tyler and one great-great-grandson on the way, Cole; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Elmer Polk; a brother, Charles Leon Gottschall; and a niece, Carol VanBoskirk.

 Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Muncy Cemetery.
