Shirley L. Blessing Schneck Gansell, 94, of Montgomery, died Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Muncy Place.
Born September 12, 1930 in South Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late William H,. and Catherine C. (Shurtz) Blessing. She and her first husband, DelRoy L. Schneck, were married 31 years before his death Sep. 20, 1980. She married Charles Gansell. Together they celebrated 24 years of marriage prior to his death Feb. 8, 2009.
Shirley was a 1949 graduate of the Montgomery-Clinton High School. In addition to raising and caring for her family, she liked finding things to do. Shirley was a den mother for the boy scouts, drove for the School of Hope, worked in the play land at the McDonald’s in Hughesville and the former Deisroth’s clothing store at the Lycoming Mall.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Montgomery. Shirley was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Shirley enjoyed shopping and antiquing at auctions. Most of all she loved doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never missed attending their athletic events.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Diane Schneck, of Muncy; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathie and Ron Cross, of Montgomery; five grandchildren and their spouses, Kristen Schneck and Atul Bhandari, Megan Schneck and Sean Breslin, Michael and Megan Schneck, Cherie and Wes Springman and Lee and Laura Cross; and 13 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Maxwell and Maya Bhandari, Audrey and Conrad Breslin, Nicholas Lloyd, Mason, Cameron and Cooper Schneck, Colby and Tanner Springman and Addison and Briar Cross.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Blessing, Sr. and a great-grandson, Alexander Bhandari.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11:30, with Pastor Todd Baker, of First Baptist Church of Elimsport, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church Cemetery, Montgomery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Shirley’s name be made to Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o Muncy Place Resident Activities, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
