Sherry Ann Metzler

August 19, 1947 — February 25, 2026

Northumberland

Sherry Ann Metzler, 78, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2026. Born on August 19, 1947, Sherry was a devoted resident of Northumberland, which was made more sparkly by her presence.

Sherry was glitter in human form—radiant, whimsical, and a reminder to never take things too seriously. Her vibrant spirit made her the perfect preschool teacher at St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she taught for over 40 years. She adored singing nursery rhymes with the children, playing pretend with stories of princes and princesses, and offering warm hugs to anyone who needed comfort.

Sherry is survived by Terry Metzler, her husband of almost 60 years, whom she met while attending Lewisburg High School. As a devoted husband, Terry was happy to hold her shopping bags and stand in the background while she dazzled those around her, including him. Together, they enjoyed relaxing by their pool, eating her home-cooked mashed potatoes, and decorating their surroundings with lights and flowers that represented their exuberance.

Sherry’s memory lives on in her daughter, Kimberly Metzler, and her granddaughter, Shelby Snyder. There is nothing Sherry loved more than supporting her daughter and granddaughter, except maybe shopping for a good deal. Some of her favorite memories were shopping trips to the King of Prussia Mall with Kim and Shelby. Sherry could become friends with someone simply standing in line at a store. She became close with many of Kim and Shelby’s friends, too. At times, they feared their friends might have liked her more because she was so lovable. Sherry was a fixture at school events and musical performances, always bringing her jokes and laughter. She shared a special bond with her only granddaughter and delighted in talking with Shelby almost every day until her passing.

Sherry also leaves behind her sister, Diane Aikey, her sister by heart, Ellen Boyer, her beloved cat, Oreo, and countless friends, former students, and extended family. She is predeceased by her mother, Kathryn Boney, and her grandmother, Carrie Burns.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Sherry’s honor on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St., Lewisburg, PA. Friends are encouraged to wear their favorite jewelry or something that sparkles.
