Robert Louis "Bob" Frangione, 81, of Lewisburg, died Thursday at midnight, September 10, 2026, at Oak Glenn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewisburg.
Born August 13, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, he was the son of the late Louis and Ruth (Filbin) Frangione. On June 8, 1975, he married the love of his life, the former Danna A. Throop, who predeceased him on December 5, 2002.
Danna served as Director of Theatre and Dance at Bucknell University for nearly two decades. Together, Bob and Danna built a life full of art and adventure, traveling the world and creating together through 27 years of marriage.
Bob served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. A proud member of the Kratzer-Dull American Legion Post #182, Bob was serving as its commander at the time of his death.
He went on to earn his master's degree in Science and Education from Bucknell University and spent decades at local schools and the local pool, where he taught generation after generation of Lewisburg kids art and swimming. Countless families in town have Bob to thank for that.
He later worked at Oak Glenn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for 18 years, teaching aquasize and lifeguarding the pool.
He was a beloved regular at the Bull Run Taphouse and the Towne Tavern, where he was always up for a game of trivia, a cold Yuengling, and making a new friend out of a stranger. He never met someone he couldn't talk to.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Nick and Nancy Frangione of Los Angeles, CA, and Joe Frangione and Karina Toth of Lewisburg; six siblings, John Frangione, Tony Frangione, Margie Chattey, Annie Stephens, Beth Bowman, and Bill Frangione; and three grandchildren, Ruby, Mitzie, and Ettison, who brought him tremendous joy.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Ann Arras and Louise Hart.
Friends will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 18th at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg, where a Memorial service will follow at 3 p.m.
