Robert C. “Bob” Caryl, 83, of Winfield, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born December 3, 1942, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Helen (Savka) Caryl. He married Susan (Konjura) on September 21, 1968, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage.
Bob was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. He earned an associate’s degree at Keystone Junior College and a bachelor’s degree in business from Rider University in 1965. Bob served in the Army National Guard from 1965 to 1971.
He moved to the area in 1967 as an agent for the U.S. Treasury Department before moving into private practice. He practiced as a public accountant for more than 40 years in Sunbury before retiring.
Bob was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Pennsylvania Central District.
He was an avid golfer and a member of the Milton Country Club and Bucknell Golf Club for many years.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children, Kim (Caryl) Fellon and her husband, Jason, of Lewisburg, and Chris Caryl and his wife, Kelley (Wenning), of Highland Heights, Ohio and five grandchildren, Acadia Caryl, Jonathan Caryl, Elsa Fellon, William Caryl and Owen Fellon.
He was personable, full of life, and always willing to talk to friends and strangers alike. Bob taught his son to drive a stick on his prized 1967 Corvette. Bob brought his daughter into his business, and they worked together for many years. He introduced his five grandchildren to life’s many joys like water guns fights on a hot day, root beer floats, frozen Reese’s Peanut Butter cups, and, more recently, how to make a black and tan. He enjoyed many summers at the Carolina beaches and Lake Naomi. He and Susan traveled extensively, often with friends and family. He loved to recount stories of speeding on the Autobahn in a BMW, attending Oktoberfest, and visiting breweries throughout his travels, including the Guiness brewery in Dublin. Bob loved his annual golf trips with the guys. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan and could often be seen on the sidelines of their countless activities. Bob’s love of family was a consistent thread throughout his life.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 8th and St. Louis Street, Lewisburg, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 with Father Fred Wangwe AJ, officiating. Following the service Military Honors will be held outside of the church.
He will be laid to rest with his parents at St Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
