Renna Mae Young, 78, of Lewisburg, died Friday, December 12, 2025, at Oak Glen, Lewisburg.
Born May 1, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Roy and Ethel (Brandt) Gutshall. On June 20, 1973, she married David Young, who predeceased her on May 23, 2023. Together they celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage.
Renna Mae was a graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Lock Haven College, now University, and her master’s from Bloomsburg University.
Renna Mae taught several years in Sunbury before moving overseas where she met her husband, and they both taught for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools, in Japan and Germany.
Renna Mae was a lifelong Lutheran.
Following retirement, she volunteered over a decade for Evangelical Community Hospice, now Wellspan. Renna Mae enjoyed watching the nightly news, the View, working in her yard, and was an avid reader. Most importantly she loved her family and was faithful to reaching out to them, never missing an important occasion.
Surviving are two twin daughters, Christina Young, of Raleigh, NC and Sarah Young and her wife, Alexis Stoner, of Pittsburgh; four sisters, Barbara Bachman and her husband Bob, Loretta Bachman and her husband, Bill, Anita Rae Reese and her husband, Alan, and Linda Faye Hagenbuch; and one brother, Luther Gutshall and his wife Crystal.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother-in-law, Mark Hagenbuch.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran (Delaware Run) Church, 6590 Musser Lane, Watsontown.
