Ray C. Kennedy

June 9, 1956 — March 21, 2026

Muncy

Ray C. Kennedy, 69, of Muncy, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at his home.

Born June 9, 1956, in Muncy, he was the son of the late Ferris W. and Carlene B. (Baysore) Kennedy. On June 19, 1982, he married the former Debbie Eichenlaub, who survives.

Ray was a 1974 graduate of Muncy High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Bucknell University. Earlier in life he worked for the West Virginia Department of Transportation where he proudly worked to build the road into the West Virginia University football stadium. Ray would later work at PennDOT where he first worked as a civil engineer in Bridge Inspection and then was manager of the Environmental Department until his retirement in 2016.

He was a former member of the Muncy Jaycees and often volunteered when a hand was needed. Ray enjoyed camping, hiking, canoeing and cross-country skiing. He was passionate about caring for our environment and his donations and efforts reflected his passion. Ray was also very handy around the house, always keeping busy with a project; there were not many things he couldn't get fixed.

Ray loved a good party or family get together, often curious about what the menu would be. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren; who knew they could pretty much do whatever they wanted with Poppy around. He would do anything to help anyone and always had a solution to any problem. He was a go to person for many around him and will be deeply missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children and their spouses, Jessica and Nick Tagliaferri, of South Williamsport, Jeron and Catelyn Kennedy, of Hughesville, and Kaley Kennedy and Brianna Jacobs, of Danville; two sisters, Sandra Johnson, of Montgomery, and Nancy George, of Jonestown; and five grandchildren, Dante and Branton Tagliaferri, Asher Kennedy, and Adelyn and Rylan Jacobs Kennedy.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 2 at Grenoble's, 121 S. Main St. Muncy, with Rev. Ben Lander, officiating.

Contributions in Ray’s memory may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation or Meagan's Box.
