September 11, 1932 — September 4, 2025

Watsontown

Phyllis Bennett Sherman, 92, of Watsontown, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

Born September 11, 1932, in Montour County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Mildred (Strassner) Bennett. Phyllis was a 1950 graduate of the Watsontown High School. Phyllis married Arthur Sherman Jr. and together they celebrated 47 years of marriage.

Phyllis worked for Susquehanna Motors for more than 20 years as their Office Manager. In 1984, she and Art moved to Florida where she had a successful career as a real estate agent. After moving back to Watsontown, she worked for many years at Dogwood Hills in Lewisburg and finally officially retired in her late 80’s from being the church secretary at First Lutheran Church in Watsontown, where she had been a member most of her life.

In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and she had many special gifts (sewing, crafting, working on computers and figuring out how to do just about anything she set her mind to).

Surviving are two sons, Timothy Sherman (R. Lane) of CA, and Michael (Pamela) Sherman of IN; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Ranck of Watsontown, Teresa Kepler of NY, Daniel (Jillian) Sherman of IL, and Jeffrey (Breana) Sherman of TX; two great-grandchildren Allison Morgan and Pierce Sherman and two great, great grandsons Kadden & Owen Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Sherman and her daughter, Teena Allabach; four brothers, Harold, Donald, Ronald and Gerald Bennett; and three sisters, Lois Durlin, Janis Balliet and Doris Badger.

Graveside service and burial will be held in the Watsontown Cemetery on October 4th at 11 AM. There will also be a Celebration of Life to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Lutheran Church of Watsontown.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble Funeral Home & Crematory, 308 Main St. Watsontown.
