Nancy J. Buck, 86, a longtime resident of Watsontown, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, November 5, 2023 after a long illness.
Born May 15, 1937 in White Deer, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Ida Mae (Prowant) Bastian. On December 26, 1956 she married Norman E. “Bucky” Buck, who passed away on September 26, 2004.
Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Milton High School. She and her husband were longtime owners of Norman E. Buck Plumbing and Heating as well as the Watson Inn, Lewisburg Hotel and the Mifflinburg Hotel.
She was a charter and longtime member of the former Watsontown Lioness Club, now the Watsontown Centennial Lioness Lions Club.
Nancy leaves behind three sons and their families, Norm Jr. and Karen Buck, Eddy Buck, and Neil “Rick” and Tracy Buck; two granddaughters and their families, Nicole Buck and Karen Wright, and Jennifer and Jordan Zankey; two great-granddaughters, Leonora Frances and Carmela Violet; a nephew who she raised like a fifth son, Marley Bastian and his wife, Shirley, and their family; numerous other family and friends, including Brittany Gowin (her caregiver) and her family who were close friends with Nancy the past five years; one brother, Marlin “Bud” Bastian and his wife, Joan; a sister-in-law, Marina Bastian; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Confer.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Nevin Buck; three brothers, George, Clarence and Raymond Bastian; and two sisters, Betty Krick and Penny Confer.
Friends will be received on Monday, November 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Grenoble Funeral Home & Crematory, 308 Main St. Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Paul Smith, officiating.
Private burial will be held in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Nancy’s memory be made to Alzheimer and Dementia research and care.
Nancy will be missed by her many friends and acquaintances who will long remember her kindness, gentle humor-always with a smile and her wonderful laughter.
