Martha S. Mertz, 97, of Lewisburg, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born May 1, 1919 in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Earl and Abbie (Boop) Showver. She and her husband, David Mertz, celebrated 37 years of marriage before his death July 31, 2005.
Martha was a graduate of Lewisburg High School. She retired from American Home Foods, Milton, where she worked for many years.
Martha was a member of the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene.
She enjoyed collecting stamps and writing to numerous pen pals.
Surviving are two sisters and one brother-in-law, Hazel Jefferson, of Lewisburg and Helen and Earnest Sauers, of Mifflinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Clarence Showver and two sisters, Alice Frederick and Mabel Zerby.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, in the Harmony Cemetery, 257 Willow St., Milton, with her pastor the Rev. Wayne Krell, officiating.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
