Marcia Lorayne Milne

Dec 30, 1935 — Jun 9, 2026

It is with deep love, gratitude, and admiration that we remember our mother, who passed away peacefully at the age of 90. She lived a full and remarkable life-one defined by intellect, compassion, curiosity, and an unwavering devotion to her family.

Our mother was the beloved wife of our father, David Wallace Milne, a distinguished professor of psychology at Bucknell University. Their partnership was one of enduring respect, intellectual curiosity, and profound affection. She outlived our father, carrying his memory forward with grace, and continuing to embody the values they shared together.

She was a devoted mother to her three sons, who were the center of her life. She instilled in us the importance of kindness, education, and perseverance. In every stage of our lives, she was our guide, our teacher, and our constant source of encouragement. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to include grandchildren and extended relatives, all of whom she cherished deeply. But even more beautiful was her ability to create family. Our friends became her children. For the last decade her four caretakers, all amazing women, became her daughters.

Professionally, our mother was an accomplished educator and school psychologist in the Danville, Pennsylvania community. With a PhD to her name, she dedicated her career to supporting middle school children-helping them navigate critical periods of growth with empathy, patience, and insight. Her work made a lasting impact on countless young lives, and she was respected by colleagues, students, and families alike.

Outside of her professional life, she embraced the world with enthusiasm and wonder. She had a passion for photography, capturing meaningful moments and quiet beauty alike. She was an avid reader, always eager to learn something new, and a world traveler who delighted in exploring cultures far beyond her own. Whether through books or journeys abroad, she sought to understand people, traditions, and perspectives with an open heart and mind.

Above all, she was a woman of deep humanity-curious, warm, and quietly strong. She taught us to look outward with empathy and inward with reflection. Her legacy lives on not only in her family, but also in the lives she touched through her work and her kindness.

We will miss her deeply, but we are profoundly grateful for the years we were given with her. Her life was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will remain a guiding light for us always.

With love,

Her three sons
