Kenneth Gould Bryfogle Jr.

Jan 18, 1938 — Jul 28, 2026

Kenneth G. Bryfogle, Jr. 88, died peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, July 25, 2026 at the Village at Penn State, where he has resided for the past five years.

Born January 18, 1938 in Muncy, raised in Montgomery, he was a son of the late Kenneth G. Sr. and Wilhemina Bryfogle. On June 12, 1960 he married the former Barbara Morrow, who survives. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Ken was a 1955 graduate of Montgomery High School and a 1959 graduate of Penn State with a Bachelor's degree in Horticulture. After graduation Ken went into the potted plant business with his father until his death in 1968. With the help of some friends, Ken expanded into greenhouse structure development and invented the first gutter connected polyethylene greenhouse in the world. In 1977 he built a greenhouse complex in Washingtonville which grew to 34 acres of greenhouses, shipping plants throughout the northeast and employing over 400 people during the busy season. In 1997 he sold the business and retired seasonally to Captiva, Florida, maintaining a summer home in Eagles Mere.

Ken wasn't all business, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and earlier in life breeding and raising Quarter horses. He loved socializing and getting to know people. Ken had a genuine love of humankind and was very generous, helping others in any way he could. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and the two were avid Penn State fans.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Dawn Bryfogle and her husband, Gary Wendt, of Jackson, Wyoming and Cecily Duda and her husband, David, of Millersville, Maryland; a sister, Mary Wetzel, of Lewisburg; and two grandchildren, Riley and Carson Duda.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Bob Wetzel. A graveside service, for immediate family only, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 1, in the Muncy Cemetery, 204 E. Penn St., Muncy, with the Rev. James Ritter, officiating.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family will provide the flowers.
