John Burke Denius

John B. Denius, 69, of Lewisburg, died Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born April 27, 1952 in Lewisburg, a son of the late William H., Sr. and Mary Ellen (Haas) Denius. He married the former JoAnne  Ellen Saunders, who preceded him in death March 15, 2009.

John was a 1971 graduate of the Pennsylvania State Oral School for the Deaf, Scranton. He worked for the former Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg for 32 years. John also taught sign language part-time at Bucknell University.

He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Lewisburg.

John was excellent at woodworking and finishing antique furniture. He loved shopping for antiques in his spare time.

John was the family history buff, always knowing names, dates and exactly when and where a photo was taken.

Surviving  are two brothers and sisters-in-law, William H., Jr. and Kimberly Denius, of Concord, NC and Lee W. and Margaret Denius, of Suffolk, VA and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second & St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, where a Funeral Service will be held at 7 with his minister, Pastor Jeff Hauck, officiating.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in New St Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff and caregivers at Geisinger Medical Center.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest contribution’s in John’s memory may be made to St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, in care of Jeff Hauck, 138 3rd St. New Columbia, PA 17856.
