James Larue Frey, 77, of Muncy, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026 at his home.
Born August 14, 1948 in Lewisburg, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Bessie (Foust) Frey. In 1989 he married the former Belinda Springman, who survives. Together they celebrated 36 years of marriage.
Jim was a 1967 graduate of Milton High School. After graduation he worked at A.W. Logan Truck Garage until January 1968, when he started employment with the former Dean Phipps Tire and Auto in the South Gate Plaza, Milton until August of 1970. Jim worked for the former Herander Pontiac in Lewisburg until November 1980 when it closed. He then went to the former Hackenburg/Haga Chevrolet in Milton until February 1984 at which time Jim went to work for Duo-Fast Corp in Lewisburg and Milton until 1999, when it closed. Lastly he worked at Mid-Atlantic Fasteners in Winfield until retiring in April 2011. Jim also did car repair on the side for Five-Star Auto, including driving roll-back in the 1980’s. After retirement he would do things for other people that he knew how to do.
Jim loved mowing all his grass with a walk behind mower and mowing grass for friends. He collected mowers and enjoyed working on them. Jim was fond of cats and Oldsmobile cars, driving them most of his life.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by a brother, Edward Frey and his wife Tracy, of Watsontown; two nieces, Tiffany Bieber, of Camp Hill and Adrienne Philbin, of Muncy; a sister-in-law, Darlis Frey, of Milton; and his best friend, Kimberly, who was always there for him in good times and bad.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Larry Frey.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, May 18 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St. Muncy, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Shawn McNett, officiating.
