James H. “Jim” Bishop, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 17, 2025, in Muncy, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and deep devotion to his family, community, and the land he so lovingly cared for.
Born October 2, 1953, in Dansville, NY, Jim was the beloved son of the late Harold D. Bishop and Irene (Pelletier) Bishop, who survives. On August 13, 1977, he married the love of his life, Gail (Bosch) Bishop. Together they shared 48 wonderful years of partnership, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.
A 1971 graduate of Montgomery High School, Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Following his service, he pursued his passion for the natural world, earning associate degrees in horticulture and agriculture from Penn State. Farming was in his heart from an early age, and he poured that passion into his life’s work—most notably as the proprietor and President of Bishop Agriculture Business. Jim also owned and managed much real estate investments and served on the board of ECAN, CAP. and Basil Wood Fired, three local Muncy businesses.
A proud Penn State football fan, Jim rarely missed a game. He found joy in the quiet moments outdoors—hunting, fishing, and appreciating the beauty of the land he worked so passionately to cultivate. Above all, Jim cherished time with his family. Being “Grandpa” was his greatest joy, and his grandchildren brought light to his days and pride to his heart.
In addition to his wife and mother, Jim is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Danielle Bishop and Amir Hagoo of Boca Raton, Florida, and Brooke Bishop and Greg Stine of Muncy; his sister, Kim Bishop of Muncy; his brother, Jack Bishop of Montgomery; and his adored grandchildren, Jasper Hagoo, Zoey Bishop Stine, and Zander Bishop Stine.
Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. to Noon on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. A funeral service will follow at Noon with Father Sean Carpenter officiating. Interment with full military honors will take place at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
