H. Ellen Hill, 81, of Hughesville, died Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the home of her daughter.
Born May 8, 1943 in Lake Hurst, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Clyde E. and Dorothy (Lucas) Brownlee. On July 24, 1971 she married Theodore C. “Ted” Hill. Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage before his death Mar. 8, 2016.
Ellen was a 1961 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She attended the former WACC, now Penn College, studying accounting. Ellen worked at the Williamsport National Bank, doing data entry for many years, and at the same time worked a second job at various local retailers.
Following retirement, she enjoyed camping with her husband, Ted. While camping, Ellen was fond of watching the bears and birds, visiting with the neighbors and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved to garden and play games on the computer. Ellen would do anything for anybody, especially family and always looked forward to family gatherings.
She was of Lutheran faith.
Surviving are four children, Kevin and Judy Hill, of Milton, Darla Hill, of Muncy, James and Dorene Hill, of Twenty-nine Palms, CA and Aaron Hill, of Hughesville; one brother, Howard Brownlee, of Wichita, KS: a sister, Nancy Mitchell, of Bloomington, IN; eight grandchildren, Chris and Patricia Smith, David Smith, Devon Smith, Greg and Sabrina Hill, Ryan Hill, Elizabeth and Kane Stiffler, Quinn Stahlnecker and Nolan Hill; and four great-grandchildren, Lily, Nikolai and Luna Smith and Silas Stiffler.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Bruce Brownlee; a sister, Carol Callahan; and two grandchildren, Timothy and Coral Smith.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Ben Lander, of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Muncy.
Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
