Helen L. Dougherty

Helen L. Dougherty, 91, of Montgomery, died Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Watsontown Health & Rehab.

Born July 29, 1934 in Montgomery, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Hazel (Bartlett) Bartlow. In 1954 she married Francis Dougherty, who preceded her in death March 5, 2007. Together they celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Helen attended Montgomery Area schools. She worked at the former Montgomery Mills and retired from the former Carey McFall Corp., now Springs, Montgomery.

Helen enjoyed working in her yard and was proud of her flower gardens. She enjoyed reading. Most of all she loved attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Danny and Kathryn Dougherty, of Montgomery and Michael Dougherty, of Pottsville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Sharon and Dominick Verdoni and Linda Fry, all of Montgomery; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Gale Balliet; two grandchildren, Jodie Lynn Dougherty and James M. “Jake” Dougherty; two brothers; and two sisters.

As per Helen’s wishes, there will be no services.
