George A. Fraley, 84, a longtime resident of Muncy, died peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Oak Glen, Lewisburg.
Born July 4, 1940 in Limestone Township, he was a son of the late H. Glen and D. Vergilla (Springer) Fraley. On June 14, 1964 he married the former Barbara E. Keister. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage before her death Dec. 21, 2024.
George was a graduate of East Lycoming High School. He served in the Army reserves from 1960-1968, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. George worked at the former Sprout-Bower, now Andritz, for 43 ½ years retiring as the inventory manager.
He was a member of the Clarkstown United Methodist Church. George was a member of the Muncy Masonic Lodge No 299, F & AM, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1975 and was secretary from 1993 to 2015. He was a member and Most Wise Master of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Williamsport, obtaining the 33 Degree in 2004. He was also a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon and a charter member of Susquehanna Forest 199. George was active in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, where he served on the board for several years and received the Grand Cross of Color in 1981.
George enjoyed sports and managed the Muncy Bank & Trust Co. Little League team for three years and was involved with the Muncy Pop Warner Football program for several years, serving as treasurer and president for two years each. During that time he went to two bowl games and was ranked 3rd in the nation in 1977.
He enjoyed hunting and running the cake wheel at the Clarkstown carnival.
Surviving are two children, Beth and Troy Geyer, of Turbotville and Ande Fraley, of Muncy; two brothers, Carl and Dorothy Fraley, of Muncy and Howard and Becky Fraley, of Lewisburg; five grandchildren, Levi Geyer, Anna Geyer, Emily Fraley, Eric Fraley and Eli Fraley; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Guy Brayden and Sarah; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by three brothers Earl, Max and Robert Fraley.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2025 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Dearing and Pastor Chris A. Fraley (nephew), officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Moreland Baptist Church Cemetery.
