Dennie E. Ladd

September 25, 1934 — June 14, 2025

Formerly of Watsontown

Dennie E. Ladd, 90, formerly of Watsontown, died Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Oak Glen, Lewisburg surrounded by loved ones.

Born September 25, 1934 in Elimsport, he was a son of the late Denique and Thelma (Anderson) Ladd. On March 5, 1965 he married the former Nancy Ann McIntyre who predeceased him on February 8, 2012.

Following high school, at the age of 17, Dennie entered the United States Marine Corps at Parris Island, SC. He was deployed in the Airwing as an aircraft electrician during the Korean War. He finished his tour of duty as Aircraft Crew Chief at HMX-1, Quantico Va. This experience led him to his first job at Piasecki as Aircraft Crew Chief at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. This led to an illustrious career of over 40 years, retiring as the Director of International Sales from Boeing Helicopters. While working full time and raising 4 children, Dennie earned his bachelor’s degree from the former Pennsylvania Military College, Chester, and his Master’s Degree from Widener University, Chester.

Dennie was a member of the Bower-Decker American Legion Post 251, Montgomery, and the Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion Post 323, Watsontown. He was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League, Delaware County Detachment #288 where he was a two-time commandant. Dennie was also a member of the Springfield-Handby Lodge 767 F&AM and a proud lifetime member of the NRA.

As a child, Dennie participated in Little League baseball and was a member of the Montgomery Little League Team that played in the first ever Little League World Series in Williamsport. Dennie’s love of the game led him to give back his time as an umpire and coach when his boys were growing up. In 1997, at the 50th anniversary of the LLWS, Dennie was honored for his participation in the first series by throwing out the first pitch. Any kid that ever played for him would remember him by his very distinct “DECENT!” when someone did something well.

Dennie thoroughly enjoyed the years he got to spend winters in Florida with his brother Richard. Dennie was also a gifted DIY’er, able to handle most any task on his own whether it was auto repair, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, you name it. Using these skills, Dennie, with the help of (or as Dennie would say under the supervision of) his brothers, his sons and a few close friends built a cabin from the foundation up back in 1972. He was proud to be able to gather and use wood and other remains from local barns and structures that were decimated from flood damage. The cabin still stands today and is a family and friend favorite gathering point for hunting, hanging out or nearly world-famous card and horseshoe tournaments.

Dennie was extremely gifted in archery. He honed his skills in competitive archery, filling a rather large trophy case of awards from his endeavors. An experienced marksman and avid fisherman, Dennie enjoyed hunting and fishing. It is safe to say the antlered deer and trophy trout population will be growing exponentially in the White Deer Valley with Dennie’s passing. Dennie enjoyed bowling with his wife and friends for many years but later traded his bowling shoes in for golf spikes, becoming an avid golfer still playing 4 times a week through his 80’s. Dennie was always recruited in best ball tournaments for his very precise short game and ability to find more golf balls than you lost every round, a particular skill his brother Richard thoroughly enjoyed.

Surviving are sons Dennie, Barry Michael, John, and Brian (Malia) Ladd; brother, Richard Ladd; sister, JoAnn Burgess; nine grandchildren, Jason, Sean, Shane, Brian, Brooke, Conor, Benjamin, Brooklyn, and Rylee; a very dear friend and hunting apprentice, Michael Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald; sister, Juanita; and grandson, Adam Michael.

Private Interment will be held in Uniontown Cemetery, Allenwood.
