Chester Earl Forrest III, 68, of New Berlin, died peacefully Friday, November 22, 2024 at his home.
Born on January 29, 1956 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Chester E. Jr. and Eleanor (Lamison) Forrest. On July 22, 2011 he married the former Joyce Wagner, who survives. Together they celebrated 13 years of marriage.
Chester served in the United States Army. He operated a gunner millimeter recoilless rifle from 1973 to 1975. He was also deployed to New York to train cadets at WestPoint and trained cadets in Missouri. Chester also trained to be an Army Ranger.
Following his service he worked in printing for 35 years and was self employed in construction for 30 years
Chester was a member of the Yoder-Zimmerman VFW Post 1964, Mifflinburg.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Melanie Forrest and Naomi Hines, both of Reading; two step daughters, Heidi Woolsey, of New Berlin and Erica Hammaker, of Middleburg; seven brothers, Bob Fox and his wife, Jean, of Williamsport, Stanley Forrest, of Levittown, Blake Forrest and his wife, Debbie, of Levittown, Jeff Forrest, of Williamsport, Scott Forrest and his wife, Laura, of Cogan Station, Keith Forrest, of Williamsport and Duane Forrest, of Williamsport; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jim Fox.
Friends and family will be received from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 26 at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 11:30 with Mike Miller, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
The family would like to thank the VA for all of their support, equipment and medical supplies that were provided. They would also like to thank the VA hospice team for all their caring and support through all these hard times.
