Charlotte M. Prowant, 95, of White Deer, died Friday, June 5, 2026, at home.
Born December 4, 1930, in White Deer, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Nora (Reedy) Wertz and attended Watsontown High school.
She was a Floor Supervisor at the former Montgomery Mills in Montgomery, Pa before marrying Elwood William Prowant on November 19, 1950. who preceded her in death May 15, 2003. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Charlotte was actively involved in her community. She was one of the founding members of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church and the White Deer Community Park and was an active member at both serving on various committees. She volunteered at the former Riverwoods Nursing home, was on the Union County Planning Commission Board, the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration committee at White Deer Community Park and a Republican committee woman.
Surviving are one son, Gregory Prowant and his wife, Kimberly, of White Deer; three sisters, Patricia Zettlemoyer, Frances Mills and Martha Newman, and sister-in-law Carolyn Wertz all of White Deer, two grandchildren, Holly Prowant and her partner, Damian Wilkins and Christopher Prowant and his wife, Jill and three great-grandchildren, Violet, Lyra and Juni.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Bob and Jack Wertz and two sisters, Freida Burrows and Phyllis Foust.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 2155 White Deer Pike, where a memorial service will be held at 11.
Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia and a luncheon at the Church following the burial.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest contributions in Charlotte’s memory be made to either Faith Chapel United Methodist Church or the White Deer Community
