Bruce E. Miller, 94, of Muncy, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Muncy Place.

Born March 30, 1931 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Bruce Dewey “Duke” and Ruth (Gortner) Miller. On January 6, 1951 he married the former Martha Alice Myers, who survives. Together they celebrated 74 years of marriage.

Bruce was a graduate of Muncy High School, Bloomsburg University and Penn State earning a Master’s degree in education. He was a four year veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees, having served during the Korean War. Bruce began his 33 year teaching career at Muncy School District before going to Montoursville Area School District, where he taught chemistry, physics and biology for nine years. It was there he became acting principal in 1973 until retiring in 1991.

Bruce was a longtime member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Muncy. He was also a member of the Eugene Graffius American Legion Post 104, the Muncy Lodge #299, F & AM and the Lycoming County Historical Society. Bruce was a proud VIP (volunteer) of Indian Park. He enjoyed collecting toy trains, was an avid reader of history and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Bruce A. (Joyce) Miller, of Bolivia, NC; a daughter, Letha (Richard) Rupert, of Montoursville; a brother, Donald Miller, of Hughesville; two sisters, Beverly Campbell, of Hughesville and Carol (Keith) Wilkins, of York, PA; three grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Rigo, Danielle (Michael) Feathers and Derek Rupert; and three great-grandchildren, Bryce Rupert, Laylia Rigo and Mason Feathers.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters, Elma Phillips, Betty Hill, Ruth Kemmer and Margaret Campbell.

The family is planning a memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Muncy, with Rev. Ben Lander, officiating.

Private burial will be held in the St. James Lutheran (White Church) Cemetery, Pennsdale.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
