Alvin L. Hoffman, 87, formerly of Muncy and most recently of Lewisburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
Born September 6, 1937 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Cline W. and Mildred P. (Phillips) Hoffman. On March 28, 1959 he married the former Martha Jane Stauffer, who survives. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Following graduation Alvin served in the U.S. Army Reserves where he learned to cook.
He had various jobs over the years including the West Branch Bell Telephone Company, Modecraft, Zenith, Anton Waldon, and Lieberfinger Tree Service. He later retired from Hazlett Tree Service.
Alvin was a hard worker who enjoyed the outdoors. He excelled at tree trimming. He enjoyed raising honeybees and loved their honey on everything.
He was a member of the Muncy Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Yvonne Johnson and her husband, Carl, Christopher Hoffman, and Rodney Hoffman and his wife, Laura, all of Muncy, Brenda Goss and her husband, John, of Philipsburg, and Tammy Mercado and her husband, Leonard, of Greensboro, NC; and four grandchildren, Curtis Hoffman, Renee McDonald, Caitlyn Mercado and Celeste Mercado.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Donald Hoffman.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 16 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St. Muncy.
