Agatha J. Guisewhite, 98, of Muncy, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 29, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born August 3, 1927 in Solingen, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Hugo and Katharina Maria (Köstner) Schulte. Agatha grew up in Germany under Nazi Hitler and the Hitler Youth organization.
She was a graduate of the Lyceum and German Abitur, and continued her education in Commercial school, and Interpreters Seminar; after which she transferred to England, working two years as a nanny. Agatha was employed as a civilian for six years with the US Army in Libya, doing accounting and the US Air Force in Germany. It was here she met her future husband, Paul E. Guisewhite, who was stationed in Ramstein, Germany. They were married in the Famous Cathedral of Cologne on May 27, 1961. Agatha and Paul celebrated 61 years of marriage before his death May 1, 2017.
Agatha worked as a secretary at the Ward Myers Elementary school for 12 years. She and her husband Paul, owned and operated the recreation park and roller skating rink at Trout Pond Park for 44 years, retiring in 2008.
She was a faithful member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy, where she was a member of the Women's Organization.
Agatha enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and traveling. She loved history and geography, when traveling she always had a map on hand. Agatha was always aware of the political news from a world view from her early years until death.
Surviving are a son, Gregor C. Guisewhite, of Muncy; a daughter and son-in-law, Maria C. and Mark Taylor, of Bernville; six grandchildren, Lauren, Alexander, Mackenzie, Katharine, Franchesca and Josephine; and seven great-grandchildren, Blaine, Wynnona, Malia, Everett, Cayden, Yara and Zaire.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Jennifer L. Hartman-Guisewhite; a sister, Kate Schoepler; and a brother, Gregor Schulte.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2026 at Grenoble's, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where a prayer service will be held at 4:45 p.m. Friends will be received again from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7th at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, where Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow in the Muncy Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Agatha's name may be made to either the Church of the Resurrection or a charity of one's choice.
