Margaret Mary Hart

January 8, 1930 — February 17, 2024

Margaret Mary Hart, 94, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at UPMC Muncy Skilled Nursing Center.

Margaret was born in Williamsport, January 8, 1930, to Amalia Mary (Eiswerth) and Alva Oscar Hart.  She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, William Alva Hart.  She is survived by many members of the Eiswerth, Hetzel, Houston & Haus families.

Margaret attended St. Mary’s High School in Williamsport and then Muncy High School. She worked at Weldon Manufacturing Company, W. T. Grant and K Mart.

The Hart family lived in Williamsport until moving to the Pennsdale & Muncy area, where they lived on a farm, moving then to their family home in 1958.  Margaret’s time on the farm saw her raising chickens for egg money, and with her brother, skidding logs from the woods by horse harness and cutting those logs down to size for splitting, using a cross cut saw. It was there she learned to play the guitar, to her enjoyment and to all of her friends.  She treasured horses immensely - her own named Prince - having an affinity for them that few could match.

Margaret was very active with the Huntersville Senior Citizens Chapter, serving as Secretary for many years.  She was also closely tied and active with the Church of the Resurrection in Muncy, freely giving her time to numerous fish dinners, church suppers and special fundraisers.

Her actual world was a kingdom of friends and family, marked by generosity and thoughtfulness both given and received over many years. She was fortunate to have lived in the family home some 66 years which clearly marked that house as a homestead, one that welcomed all.

Who will watch the homeplace,

Who will tend my dear space,

Who will fill my empty place,

When I am gone from here?
