Viola L. Watson

Viola L. Watson, 87, of Muncy, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born May 8, 1932 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late R. Glenn and Hazel A. (Bieber) Arthur. She and her husband, Chester “Chet” Watson, celebrated 49 years of marriage before his death Feb. 29, 2000.

Viola was a 1950 graduate of Muncy High School. She worked as a secretary at the former Bryfogle’s and retired from the Muncy High School administration office.

She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Muncy. Viola was also a member of the Muncy Senior Citizens, Muncy Business and Professional Women’s Club, Women of St. Andrew, Muncy Hospital Auxiliary and treasurer of the Muncy Hospital Gift Box.

Viola was an avid reader and participated in Bible Study Group. She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to a card club. Viola loved gardening, cooking, canning and freezing. Earlier in life, she also enjoyed crocheting.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry A. and Phyllis I. Watson, of Apalachin, NY and Jerry W. Watson, of Muncy; a daughter, Shirley M. Watson, of Muncy; a sister, Lena M. Stepp, of Knoxville, TN; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard L. and Alice M. Arthur, of Muncy; a brother-in-law, Arnold A. Love, of Orange Park, FL; three grandsons, Brian (Korey) Watson, Jeremy Watson and Christopher Watson; and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Leah, Elodie, Tobias, Margot and Adalynn.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Mary E. Love and a brother-in-law, R. Eugene Stepp.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Christopher Raiford, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Muncy Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests contribution’s in Viola’s name be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Muncy, PA 17756.
