Sarah Jane Fox

Sarah Jane Fox, 89, of Williamsport, died Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at AristaCare of Loyalsock.

Born December 29, 1929 in Hillsgrove, she was a daughter of the late Truman H. and Marion (Williams) Speaker. Sarah enjoyed taking rides around the Hillsgrove area where her father had lead the CC Camp and was instrumental in constructing roads around Worlds End. On January 20, 1948 she married Gerald T. Fox Sr. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage before his death June 18, 2007.

Sarah attended Williamsport High School. She worked for many years in housekeeping at the former Leader’s, Williamsport, now Manor Care. Sarah was hard working and loved to help others. She and her husband took great pride in volunteering at the cancer treatment center at the Divine Providence Hospital.

Sarah was a member of the East End Baptist Church, Williamsport, and served on the Deaconess board.

Surviving are two sons, Raymond Fox, of Tyrone and Donald Fox and his life partner, Barbara Kohler, of Williamsport; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Ray LaForme, of Montgomery; a sister, Frances Nelson, of Altoona; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Gerald T. Fox Jr.; a brother, John Speaker; two sisters, Margaret Nitcherlend and one in infancy; a granddaughter, Erica Fox; and a daughter-in-law, Doreen Fox.

Friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the East End Baptist Church, 801 Washington Blvd.,  Williamsport, where the family is planning a memorial service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jeanne Leet, officiating.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Montoursville Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Sarah’s name be made to the East End Baptist Church, 801 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
