Sadie Funk Obituary

Sadie E. Funk, 95, of Montoursville, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 at AristaCare at Loyalsock.

Born April 15, 1922 in Exchange, she was the daughter of the late William Ellis Jr. and Clara E. (Shook) Ellis. On March 16, 1943 she married Nevin L. Funk. Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage before his death in 1987.

Sadie was a 1939 graduate of Muncy High School. She worked at the former Weldon’s Manufacturing and the former Plankenhorn Braid before receiving training as a nurse’s aide. Sadie then worked at the Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport and retired from the former Leader Nursing Home, now Manor Care, Williamsport.

Sadie was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, Montoursville.

She enjoyed reading, sewing and crocheting.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and David Embick, of Jersey Shore; two grandchildren, Aaron Embick and his wife, Brittany and Laura Cross and her husband, Lee; and two step grandchildren, Addi and Briar.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and James Ellis and two sisters, Sevena Bartlow and Sarah Beilharz.

Services were held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial was in the Montoursville Cemetery.
