Norma Herr Obituary

Norma Jean Herr, 80, of Peach Orchard Rd., Muncy, died Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

 

She was born December 25, 1938 in Muncy, a daughter of the late William J. R. and Dorothy (Sheets) Murray. On Jan. 11, 1957 she married Franklin L. “Bud” Herr, Jr., who survives. Together they celebrated 62  years of marriage.

 

Norma was a graduate of Muncy High School. She dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family. 

 

She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Delaware Run, where she taught Jolly Helpers Sunday school class and was actively involved in social ministry and Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Norma was an auxiliary member of the Roland Ritter American Legion Post 268, Muncy and the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., Muncy. She also actively helped at the Sun Light House, Muncy.

 

Norma enjoyed cooking, gardening and her flowers. She loved spending time with her family.

 

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons and daughters-in-law, Franklin L. “Bud” III and Roxann Herr and James B. and Karen Herr, all of Muncy; three daughters and one son-in-law, Deborah A. Herr, of Muncy, Bonita and Jerry Reis, of Muncy and Julia Heimbach, of Turbotville; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Ann Van Horn.

 

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., 12 North Market St., Muncy.
