John C. Bussom

John C. Bussom, 78, of Muncy, died Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.

Born October 12, 1940 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Charles and Rachael (Bingaman) Bussom. On May 26, 1974 he married the former Carol Chandler, who survives. Together they celebrated 45 years of marriage.

John was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He served honorably as a sergeant in the U. S. Army. He previously worked at GTE Sylvania, Montoursville and as a subcontractor laying carpet. John worked as a printer for many years Unique Industries, Montoursville.

He was of Christian faith.

John was a life member of the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 VFW, Muncy.

He loved woodworking, fishing and spending time on his boats.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Denise Taylor and her husband, James and Pamela Bogart, all of Muncy, Anthony Villella and his wife, Jennifer, of Houtzdale and Debra Housler and her husband, Douglas, of Emporium; a brother, Nelson Bussom and his wife, Penny, of Picture Rocks; two sisters, Margaret Whitby, of VA and Norma Thoreson, and her husband, Leif, of WI; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a step mother, Alma Bussom; a son, Jeffrey Villella; a grandson, Louis Villella; a great-grandson, Kaidyn Taylor; a sister, Joanne Landis and a brother-in-law, William Whitby.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where a funeral will be held at noon, with the Rev. Robert Rice, pastor of Muncy Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Muncy Cemetery.
