James D. "Jim" Bartlow Sr.

James D. “Jim” Bartlow, Sr., 72, of Muncy, died Tuesday, Jul. 2, 2019 at the Milton Nursing & Rehab Center.

Born March 10, 1947 in Lewisburg, he was a son of the late Alvin E. and Maybelle (Snyder) Bartlow. He married the former Laura R. Bieber, who preceded him in death Dec. 7, 2011. Together they celebrated 38 years of marriage.

Jim attended East Lycoming High School. He worked as a logger and heavy equipment operator for Paul McConnell Logging in Picture Rocks for 25 years. Jim operated Concrete Critters out of his home, making concrete art for gardens. He also fixed and restored bicycles.

He was a member of the Hughesville Baptist Church. Jim was a member of the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as an EMT and the PA Fire Police.

Jim loved to hunt, fish and paint pictures as well as his concrete creations. He enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. Jim was also fond of pets, always having a cat or dog companion.

Surviving are one son, James Bartlow, Jr., of Milton; a brother, William Bartlow, of East Lycoming; and five sisters, Lois Jane Myers, of Williamsport, Gloria McCollin, of Muncy Twp., Patty Bartlow, of East Lycoming, Linda Lupold, of Ralston and Beverly McFee, of Hughesville.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and Robert Bartlow; a half brother, Donald Snyder; and a sister, Virginia Sue Flick.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Muncy Cemetery, 204 E. Penn St., Muncy.  Officiating will be the Rev. Max L. Walter Jr., pastor of Lairdsville Faith Church.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Williamsport. Make checks payable to Susquehanna Health Foundation, and mail to 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
