Edward R. Root

Edward R. Root, 74, of Hughesville, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Monday, March 12, 2018, surrounded by his family.

Born July 5, 1943, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Wagner) Root.  On August 24, 1963, he married the former Mary D. Tawney, who survives.

Edward graduated from Williamsport High School and served in the United States Navy.

For many years, he managed the Sears Auto Center, Lycoming Mall.

Edward was a member of First United Methodist Church, Muncy.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Christina Sellers and her husband, Troy, of Muncy, and Melissa Barto and her fiancé, Eric Michael, of Unityville; two grandsons, Trent and Derek Sellers; three step-grandchildren, Chase, Abby and Conor Michael; and four brothers, John, George, Charles and Perry Root.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in Edward’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
