Marie L. Wertman

Marie L. Wertman, 83, of Muncy, went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born May 25, 1940, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Mahlon and Florence (Reese) Savage. On April 8, 1961, she married Ronald E. Wertman, who survives. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Marie was a 1958 graduate of Lewisburg High School. She worked as the head cook at the Muncy School District, where she retired.

She was a member of the Hughesville Friends Church.

Marie loved the Lord with all her heart. In her younger days, she was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching and playing tennis. She attended many Nascar races, and over the years, collected many signatures from the drivers themselves. Marie could always be found with her friends Rose and Dona, and most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Tracy (John) Kiess, of Montoursville, Ronalee (David) Harrington, of Bernville, and Chris (Ande) Fraley, of Muncy; two brothers, Mahlon “Lon” Savage, of Hughesville and Danny (Sandra) Savage, of Selinsgrove; two sisters, Nancy Katherman, of Mifflinburg and Susan (Dennis) Griffin, of Montoursville; Nine grandchildren, Wesley Scott, Megan Marie, Amanda, Cody, Emily, Eric, Eli, Devin and Daniel; and 16 great-grandchildren, including Jordyn Marie, Haidyn Rae, Colton Michael, Micaela Marie and Damien Leon.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Penny Biichle and one brother-in-law, Robert Katherman.

A celebration of life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 13 at Hughesville Friends Church, 137 S. Third St. Hughesville, with Rev. Dan Cale, officiating.
