Henry J. Neufer, 86, of Muncy, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at his home.

Born January 22, 1930 in Montgomery, he was a son of the late Alfred “Barney” and Nora (Phillips) Neufer.  He and his first wife, the former Charlotte Gray, celebrated 42 years of marriage before her death in 1992.  He and his second wife, the former Dorothy Graham, celebrated 14 years of marriage before her death in 2012.

Henry attended a one room school house in Salladasburg.  He later retired after 33 years as a welder from the former Sprout Bauer, now Andritz, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Henry was a member of the Muncy Baptist Church.

He was a lifetime member of the Muncy Volunteer Fire Department and the Muncy Valley Moose.  Henry was a loving husband, father and grandfather always putting his family first.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda Phillips, of Muncy; one stepdaughter, Sandra Smith, of Williamsport; three stepsons, Peter Gehr, of Hughesville, George Gehr, of Williamsport, and Robert Gehr, of Pennsylvania; one brother, Lewis Neufer, of South Williamsport; two grandchildren, Christy Phillips and Gary Phillips and his wife, Christy; six great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous step grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was predeceased by two sons, Larry and Joseph Neufer; two brothers, Jim and Chuck Neufer; one sister, Eva Roussey; one son-in-law, David Phillips; and one step daughter, Karen Buck.

The family is planning a Memorial Service to be held next Spring.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Muncy Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Henry’s name be made to either UPMC Susquehanna Homecare and Hospice or the Gatehouse.  Please specify in the memo which organization and make checks payable to Susquehanna Health Foundation and mail to 1001 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
