Helen B. Hill

Helen B. Hill, 92, of 134 E. Water St., Muncy, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Gatehouse, Williamsport.

Born October 7, 1925 in Williamsport, she was the only child of the late Clyde Brass and Flossie (Anstadt) Barnhart. She and her husband, Richard E. “Nipper” Hill, celebrated 55 years of marriage until his passing on Nov. 6, 2002.

Helen was a 1943 graduate of Muncy High School. She previously worked at GTE Sylvania, Montoursville and served as a crossing guard for the Muncy School District.

Helen was a member of the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W. Auxiliary, Muncy, the Loyal Order of the Moose #866, Muncy Valley, and the Roland Ritter Post 268, American Legion, Muncy.

A fashionista, she enjoyed shopping during her weekly outings with her friends.  Her love of travel was shown through the yearly beach vacations she took with her family and the Army reunions she attended with her husband.  Helen’s greatest achievement was raising her family and caring for her home.  Her kind-hearted nature and unconditional love for her children and grandchildren was shown through her cooking and hosting of holiday gatherings.  Helen’s grandchildren would always look forward to her famous egg-on-toast that she would happily make each time they visited.  Gram loved having her grandchildren over for movie nights with popcorn.  We feel blessed to have known and loved a woman whose legacy will live on through the memories and stories shared by her family and friends.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Neil Kimerer, of State College, and Deborah and Edward VanHorn, of Hughesville; four grandchildren, Nicole (Kristopher) Parsons, Michelle (Matthew) Abraham, Jenna VanHorn, and Shawn (Michelle) Perritt; five great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Cecilia Abraham, Blair and Blythe Parsons, and Sebastian Perritt; and a companion of nine years, Linford Frey, of Muncy.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Arlene P. Beechert, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Muncy, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Muncy Cemetery.
