Esther "Ruthie" Wertman

Esther “Ruthie” Wertman, 86, of Hockley Hill Rd., Turbotville, died Monday, January 13, 2020 at Evangelical Community Hospital.

Born February 1, 1933 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late James Franklin and Bertha L. (Bower) Feigles. On October 22, 1954 she married Robert Wertman, who survives. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Ruthie graduated in 1951 with honors from the Muncy High School. Earlier in life, she worked at the former Weldon Company, Muncy. Ruthie loved spending her days raising and caring for her family, especially babies and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards.

She attended Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, Muncy.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Daniel and Susan Wertman, of Muncy, Charles Edward Wertman, of Turbotville, Kevin and Lorraine Wertman and William and Tammie Wertman, all of Muncy; a daughter and son-in-law, Lovetta and Robert Hill, of Lairdsville; a sister, Martha Edkin, of Danville; twelve grandchildren, Danny, Heith, Randy, Kurt, Matt, Brent, Frankie, Skyanne, Preston, Shelby, Caitlyn and Seth; numerous great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Heather Huntington, who was like family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Robert Joe Wertman in 1995; a brother-in-law, Ludy Edkin; and a grandchild, Kaden Wertman

Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Stephen R. Smith, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Muncy Cemetery.
