Ernest D. Rupert, 84, of Rt. 405, Watsontown, died Thursday, November 3, 2016 at his home.

Born March 5, 1932 in Delaware Twp., he was the son of the late Seymour and Jessie (Mincemoyer) Rupert.  He and his wife, the former Diann E. Dixon, were married August 22, 1959, and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Ernest served honorably in the United States Navy.  After his service in the military, he was self-employed owning and operating Rupert’s Upholstery, Rt. 405, Watsontown.

He was a member of St. John’s (Delaware Run) Lutheran Church, Watsontown.

Ernest loved country music and playing the guitar.  He was a member of the American Folk Musician Association for over 60 years, where he was inducted into the hall of fame in 2010.  Ernest was also a member of the Glenn Sharrow Post #35 American Legion, Hughesville.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and one daughter-in-law, David E. and Debra Rupert, of Berryville, Arkansas, and James A. Rupert, of Danville; one sister, Grace Wallace, of Mechanicsburg; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Burial with full military honors will be held in Muncy cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either St. John’s (Delaware Run) Lutheran Church, 6590 Musser Lane, Watsontown, PA 17777 or the American Cancer Society, Lycoming County Unit, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
