Dr. Bonnie J. Gardner

Dr. Bonnie J. Gardner, 73, of Muncy, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016, at her home.

Bonnie was born July 10, 1943, in Muncy, the daughter of the late Clarence Gardner and Fannie (Young) Gardner McKee.

She was a 1961 graduate of Muncy High School, and graduated from the University of PA School of Nursing in 1964.  Bonnie later graduated from St. Joseph’s University in 1976 and earned her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1980.  She completed her internship at Metropolitan Hospital, her residency at Hahnemann Hospital, and her Fellowship at Women’s Medical College, all of Philadelphia.  Bonnie then worked at a private practice in the suburbs of Philadelphia specializing in Endocrinology until her retirement in 2005.

Bonnie was a very active member of the Muncy Baptist Church where she formerly served as the treasurer.  She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the Muncy Business and Professional Women Association.

When Bonnie retired and returned to Muncy, she enjoyed reading and working on Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by her close friend, Barbara Patterson, of Muncy; two brothers, Ken Gardner and his wife, Sandra, of Danville, and Larry Gardner and his wife, Pamela, of Harrisburg; two nieces, Marcie Barwick and her husband, John, of Parsippany, NJ, and Lee Anne Richardson and her husband, Bob, of Baltimore, MD; two nephews, Mark Gardner, of Bloomsburg, and Hugh Gardner, of San Diego, CA; four great-nephews, Ryan, Brendan, Calvin and Nicholas; and one great-niece, Meghan.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Muncy Baptist Church, 11 W. Penn St., Muncy, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. with her minister, the Rev. Robert W. Rice, officiating.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Muncy Baptist Church, 11 W. Penn St., Muncy, PA 17756 or the Lycoming Animal Protection Society (LAPS), 195 Phillips Park Drive, South Williamsport, PA 17702.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
